Jazz Your Mug …Floral Friday

I enjoy drinking my morning coffee out of unique cups and mugs.  I’ve been collecting coffee mugs for many years.  The containers can be found nearly anywhere.  Some of the best  ones are intended as souvenirs.  They’re a great alternative to tee-shirts andff022213a sweatshirts if you’re getting a little gift for somebody who has been housesitting or taking care of little chores while you’re away.  If I’m taking something home for myself, I’ll often buy two coffee mugs.  One for my friend and one for my collection.

One nifty way to enjoy a mug when you tire of using it for coffee, is to make a floral container out of it.  Or, you can make an arrangement out of cheery flowers as a special way to show your appreciation of your friend.

One of the older mugs in my cupboard came from a trip to Scottsbluff, Nebraska.  It’s an old fashioned stoneware cup that a cowboy or cowgirl might like.  It’s festooned with a conastoga being towed by the oxen pair Neb and Raska.  The outdated slogan is included, “Nebraska–Where the West Begins”. In the arrangement, I included colors that a person might find on the wild prairie lands in the western half of the state.

A trip to the Nation’s capitol yielded this, made in the USA, cobalt blue glass mug decorated in actual gold.  Because it is not microwaveable, I’ve never used it for beverages.  It’s been the base for a few flower groupings, though.  I have a full quorum of flowers in the Capitol Cup, today.

A cheerful mix of various blooms come together in an avant-garde statement from the beautiful city by the Bay. The light blue glaze accented by a stylized Golden Gate Bridge is all about beauty and a chipper start to the day.ff022213c

You can find souvenir mugs in nearly every major tourist spot on earth.  There are also mugs for special days, commercial events, sports teams, schools and so many more.  You probably have some old mugs stashed away, too.  Maybe you can come up with a creative use for some of them, as well.

The Blue Jay of Happiness is looking for a Blue Jay mug to replace the one that broke in the microwave oven.

You are certainly in a good mood for mugging with vibrant colours and flowers! Well done!

My favourite would have to be the second one in the blue mug. Which is yours?

SoundEagle would very much like to have the honour and impact of your considerable intellect at http://soundeagle.wordpress.com/2013/02/20/facing-the-noise-music-grey-barriers-and-green-frontiers-of-sound-society-and-environment/.

    Thank you in anticipation!

I like the San Francisco mug…but I’m prejudiced. I’ll visit your site, but I don’t know about my considerable intellect. I’ll give it a go, though. 🙂
