I hope the Happiness of friends and family will warm your heart with joy today and throughout the New Year. I really want Peace in the world, and gladness throughout humankind not only during the Holiday Season, but always.
Perhaps the final salvo in the silly, so called war on Christmas will be stilled by those who wish to divide us. The only victor will be harmony among us all, regardless of the political opinions one harbors.
There is only one real war. The war against ourselves has erupted in battles amongst ourselves throughout human history. This day and age, the only sensible thing to do is to finally put a halt to the war that nobody can ultimately win. Our addiction to warfare will never end if people continue to force other people to submit to the victors’ will.
None of the “wars” on drugs, nor poverty, nor the environment, nor the family, nor the whatever can be won because they have been undertaken with an adversarial mindset. The important issues can only be worked out through thoughtful, compassionate peaceful methods. Wars create winners and losers. Compassionate Peace includes every person without exception.
I think about how so many of us appear to be acting on our best potential for goodness, this holiday, today. I wonder what would happen if none of us switched off our best behavior at the stroke of midnight tonight.
Poets, musicians, thinkers, and writers throughout the ages have been accused of being dreamers. It is an allegation which we gladly accept. We not only want to plant the seeds of helpful ideas. Most of us wish to nurture them to full maturity so that everyone can enjoy the harvest of peace for all.
Daily, I notice the reports of hatred and violence. My first reflex urges me to curse the evildoers. Then moments later, I remember that we are all co-conspirators in some way. Fear has been our guiding spirit for too long.
All of us must remember the mistakes of the past, so that we can find the pearls of wisdom and empathy within all of our hearts. It is certainly possible to embrace the instinctive goodness within us so that we can live in the reality of a good present moment. Knowing the satisfaction of a good present, we can cultivate an on-going harmonious future.
Dream with empathy and compassion. Act towards the positive result of a peaceful, abundant world.
Regardless of how you celebrate the season, I send best wishes to you and yours.
The Blue Jay of Happiness has a quote for you from R.Buckminster Fuller. “Either war is obsolete or men are.”
Merry Christmas to you and yours! I wish you all the best.
Thank you!
