I had such a good response for “Nouveau dans la Vieille” a couple of weeks ago, that I decided to do something similar for today. The containers are oldies, the contents are of contemporary styling. Perhaps you could call these post-post-modern.
An obviously old, late 1940s Haeger swan vase provides the base for an Outer Space inspired solitaire with an evergreen sprigs surround. The idea is so off-the-wall, that it works well.
This late 1960s USA Originals “J” planter is the perfect home for an ultra-contemporary Ikebana inspired planting. Something about this composition reminds me of the old cartoon series, “The Jetsons”.
I have long used a light blue Red Wing space age cubist planter as a holder for pillar candles. I decided to revive the early 1960s container with another forward design. I’ve named this one “Succulent with Friends”.
These are just a few of the ways we can re-envision our approach to things and creatively recycle.
Ciao
The Blue Jay of Happiness has something from Alexander Pope, today. “In words, as fashions, the same rule will hold; Alike fantastic, if too new, or old: Be not the first by whom the new are tried, Nor yet the last to lay the old aside.”
