I enjoy doing some small special things on Equinox Day. Since the event coincides with Floral Friday, the special things I want to do for the blog are theme centered arrangements. The containers easily dominate the themes for each effort.
Several years ago, Teleflora came out with a limited edition automotive promotion. I’m still looking for the Corvette planter, but the T-Bird and the Cadillac made it to my shelf. The Caddy gets the nod for today’s project. I kept the design quite simple for the redux. Shades of purple are nestled in a bed of miniature eucalyptus twigs.
I came across a somewhat rare Royal Copely item
the other day. After a laborious
removal of the crusty lime deposits, the steeplechase themed planter is now in good condition again. To offset the rich purple glaze, I decided to use only greens and no flowers. The result is a blend of faux leaves and tall, dried natural elements.
I saved a special vessel for last. Shakyamuni Buddha graces this vintage vase from Thailand that used to belong to my late step-mom. An elegant, simple, Asian inspired styling is the perfect compliment for this addition to my personal shrine.
What sort of item do you have in your home that can be the base of a special theme? Why not make something of it for the new season?
