Fun With Finds …Floral Friday

If I ever change the name of Floral Friday, it should become Fun with Finds.  I say that, because nearly all of the elements used in my little creations are special “finds”.  That is, I rarely purchase the vases, mechanicals, and flowers from standard retail stores.  There are so many things to be had from attics, garage sales, thrift stores, and gifts. In fact, there is such a bounty, that thrift stores often end up discarding the excess.

I found the small green glass flower bowl at a thrift store and paid a tidy fifty cents.  Glass filler marbles given to me by a friend are the mechanicals. The flowers are a few from a haul from a garage sale.

Naturally, the fifty cent blue jay coffee mug had to come home with me last year. A trio of blue roses recycled from a gift basket finish the theme.

The old depression glass candy dish has been in the basement for several years. I cleaned it up and made it the foundation for a batch of thrift store blooms.

“Pleasured equally
In seeking as in finding,
Each Detail minding,
Old Walt went seeking
And finding.”

Was watching Storage Wars on A&E channel the other day and when then opened one unit, I saw old vases, coffee creamers, cups, etc. Immediately thought of you and what you’d do with them. You have great ideas!
