Hopefully all the past family business of dad’s estate will be settled by next year. It will be time to get away from Nebraska for awhile. I also need to renew my passport again. There are a lot of travel blogs to peruse to decide on a destination.
I have already decided to remain within the Western Hemisphere, which means that North, Central, and South America are on the table. Exactly where, I have yet to determine.
The biggest factor will be weather conditions, here at home. If it is early spring or late autumn, anywhere in North America is game. Of course, this is where I’m most familiar. Either of these seasons don’t rule out a trip to any of the Central American nations, but political conditions in those little countries are major considerations.
If I take my vacation exactly a year from now, I’ll want to get away from the oppressive heat and humidity of the Great Plains. I’ve been thinking aloud about Argentina. It is at this time of year that it’s winter in South America. Not only that, but I’ve never been that far south on the planet.
As a matter of course, cities will be on the itinerary. Will it be Toronto, San Francisco, Panama City, or Buenos Aires?
The main focus will be on National Parks. They provide a satisfactory balance between civilization and wilderness. Parks provide a safe means of interaction with an area’s wildlife and human culture. There are just enough creature comforts with no need to stay at a resort.
As the home situation settles down, I’ll have a better idea as to where in the Americas to go and start doing the homework.
Ciao
The Blue Jay of Happiness quotes photographer Martin Parr. “The thing about tourism is that the reality of a place is quite different from the mythology of it.”
Always wondered if you’ve been to Weggie Boy’s site, he’s in Nebraska as well.
