Vases With Handles …Floral Friday

When we think of vases used in ancient Greek or Roman society, we imagine them with graceful handles. As time went by, so did the handles. Eventually, fashion dictated handles to be passé. Yet, from time to time, handles on vases made comebacks.

A hard to come by green Indiana Glass vase with classical styling works well with five white garden roses. This time a subtle contemporary touch adds to the traditional look.

The tiny, pink salesman’s sample vase has handles that are strictly for style. The little vase only has room for a few small flowers. This time the vase holds Peruvian Lilies.

The larger USA Pottery vase only has vestiges of handles. They are simply the finishing touches added by the designer. This week’s flowers reflect those on the hummingbird appliqué.

The Blue Jay of Happiness quotes actress Juliette Binoche.  “You’re not the flower, but the vase which holds the flower.”
