Thrift stores can yield some unique finds. This was certainly true this week. I found a few cute, interesting vessels at arms reach, practically in front of me in the stores.
An applied flower with the tops of two petals protruding above the rim make the department store striped pot irresistible. I tried to match flower colors to those of the stripes.
By far, the most interesting find is an old Fiesta Ware candle stick holder. This is a pure Art Deco design that needed a treatment that nods towards the intended original purpose of the piece. I located an old tube to enable the conversion of the candle holder into a bud vase.
It’s back to the 1970s with a groovy pedestal coffee mug. The odd smiley face mug has some glaze crazing, so it’s unsafe to use for beverages. That’s OK because three sunflowers fit inside just fine.
