Three Planters …Floral Friday

This was a good week to replant, transplant, and tweak a pair of old projects that had grown unruly and dusty and recreate another. In other words, they needed a bit of retreading in order to restore their appearance. There are new possibilities when the familiar is looked at in new ways.

The ferns in the vintage McCoy fernery had become droopy and dense. Some strategic clipping and cleaning yields a cleaner, fresher appearance.

Spiky, aggressive grasses enhance the cobalt blue pitcher vase. The wild looking plants and the colorful drip glaze balance out the graceful design of the vessel.

The avocado green USA “bamboo” planter contains a re-creation of an arrangement I made up about ten years ago. I stumbled upon a photo of the original version and decided it needed to be done again. I found similar plant elements and copied the placements from the photograph. The new version is very similar to the original.

The Blue Jay of Happiness likes a snippet from screenwriter, director Herbert Rappaport. “I hope that while so many people are out smelling the flowers, someone is taking the time to plant some.”
