Unconventional …Floral Friday

Floral Friday arrangements are usually unusual but not because of a deliberate attempt to be unconventional. Today is an exception to that rule of thumb. I actually set out to create projects that are just a little bit off base.

Placing mums inside of a conventionally shaped ceramic vase is OK but pretty tame. So, the basketwork covered vase with mums is topped with a dried palmetto leaf for fun.

An old earthenware planter becomes edgy with sharp, pointy greenery, a thistle head, and miniature trumpet blooms for good measure.

The small decorated vase was deliberately made to look off-balance by the artisan. Three yellow flowers accented by trimmings from a bamboo bush enhance the off-beat vase. The gold chain is used for added texture.

The Blue Jay of Happiness ponders this quip from Amit Kalantri: “Telephone did not come into existence from the persistent improvement of the postcard.”

You know, I can’t seem to go to any store, flea market or thrift store without checking out things to make unusual vases, because of your Friday posts!! You know they’ve always been my favorites here!!
