Animal Planters …Floral Friday

On windy, cold days, it’s comforting to handle old belongings. Seeing and working with familiar items brings calm to stormy inner feelings brought on by the outside storm.  I brought out three planter vases styled after animals because they are some of my favorites. They added visual warmth to the severe cold of a nippy February day.

The hanging fish vase with the aged, mottled glaze is enhanced with a new handful of small yellow blooms.

A thumb-size cactus and artificial fill flowers are contained in a vintage burro planter. The project brightens a room-divider set of shelves.

The unreal yellow fawn by the defunct Shawnee Pottery Company contains cheery, oddly-colored daisy blooms.

The Blue Jay of Happiness quotes a former president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Ezra Taft Benson. “One who is kind is sympathetic and gentle with others: He is considerate of others’ feelings and courteous in his behavior. He has a helpful nature. Kindness pardons others’ weaknesses and faults. Kindness is extended to all–to the aged and the young, to animals, to those low of station as well as the high.”
