Repurposed …Floral Friday

The repurposing of items overlaps with recycling of items. It can be thought of as utilizing an object for another purpose than its originally intended use.

I had a few everyday type of things sitting around that looked like good candidates for repurposing projects. While cleaning them, I decided to incorporate cacti or succulents as the floral elements.
A near-antique porcelain coated steel refrigerator pan is the ideal container for a cactus and a succulent. A gourd and recycled, vintage plastic flowers add accents to the grouping.
A plastic toy dump truck now serves as a pot for a contrasting colored succulent. I prepared the toy for planting by securing the dumping box to the main truck with masking tape in order to prevent an accidental spill. I don’t want potting soil and a plant directly on the furniture. When I decide to re-repurpose the toy, I will remove the masking tape from the undercarriage.Β
A 1960s vintage, ceramic candle holder seems quite suitable as the new home for a small cactus.
